Seating and accessories made from woven rattan bring a very natural look to exteriors from bijou-sized balconies, to cool courtyards, and expansive terraces.
Woven rattan brings textures to the great outdoors. Here are ideas to try.

Luxe up a balcony
This Hattie garden swivel twinset is neat and offers more seat that a basic bistro set does.
It will fit on a balcony or postcard-sized patio and costs €699, reduced from €879 at Casey’s new furniture department at Arnotts, Henry Street.
The seats come with a side table that doubles as a footstool.

Hang out outside
Curling up in a hammock or in a swing seat immediately lightens the mood.
This Bali egg-shaped chair from EZ Living Interiors has an aluminium frame and wicker-effect seat.
The shower-proof cushions come in soft ochre. It costs €269.

Quiet corner or garden nook
Habitat’s Global Accent natural rattan weave chair and matching footstool set will wrap around in a way that’s perfect for garden nooks, balconies or patios.
It’s not available to buy in the Republic, but if you’re taking a trip to Belfast, it is available on a click-and-collect basis at the Argos store at Castle Court.
The set is reduced from about €140 to about €98.

Steel magnolias

High-end seating
Antwerp designer Vincent Van Duysen has been the creative director of Italian furniture company Molteni&C for a decade. Featuring woven teak veneer strips, his Palinfrasca sofa pays tribute to the 1994 work by Luca Meda.
The corner sofa, as seen, starts from €36,323 at Minima Home. Armchairs in the same range start from €7,355. The corner lounger, described as an island, costs €15,588.
The Belgian designer works with many other high-end brands, but also collaborates with Zara Home. You can see the range here.

Add ambient light
Add ambient lighting and shadow play with JYSK’s Regnbue hurricane lanterns.
Woven using polyrattan and steel, they are both durable and warm and inviting.
Standing 43 cm tall, the lamp comes with a glass holder to protect the candle flame from the wind. They cost €20 each.
