More than 20 per cent of homes already have their tree up, according to a Woodies survey.

Here are some easy-to-execute ideas for the tree and for gee-gaw gifting.

Christmas tree

That’s a wrap

Former interior stylist for Good Homes magazine, Sophie Robinson, is crazy about colour and brings it in the most delightful ways.

The TV presenter and podcaster - she’s a judge on Alan Carr’s Design Masters – has made dressing the tree really simple with her beautiful striped bows, a set of three costs about €17, from Carrickmines-based Dunelm.

Formerly Hickey’s Home Focus, you will have to visit the store to buy, as the website doesn’t deliver to the Republic.

KATIE LARMOUR DESIGN OCTOBER 25 NATIVE IVY 178

The festive collection has been stocked at Harrods.

Tinsel has come in from the fashion cold and is hot this yuletide.

This three-foot-high tree (0.91 metres) will add a cool contemporary look to a small space, if you don’t want an overbearing tree. Price €34.

Also shown are two on-trend neon light motifs that plug into the mains. One is a pink cowboy boot, the other a big bow. Both cost €39 at Marks & Spencer,

April and the Bear’s brass decoration, €23, offers optimal kissing opportunities and is also worth calling out.
