Dalkey has priced most mere mortals out. The period houses and clifftop villas on Vico Road and Sorrento Terrace sell for multiple millions, and even modest family homes on the side streets usually cost more than only the best-heeled can manage.

Bono has had a home locally for decades, Enya’s castle sits on the road towards Killiney, and Matt Damon spent the 2020 lockdown in the village, where his trips to the shops became a national talking point.
Dalkey DART station is a five-minute walk, the train reaching the city centre in about half an hour.
Number 9, a similar two-bed, sold for €540,000 in April 2023. Number 1 Castle Mews meanwhile, a recently refurbished three-bed duplex in the same scheme is also currently for sale with an asking price of €695,000.
