Browse Irish design at Form and Fable, a new shop popping up from today at a canal-side store at Wilton Park, Dublin 2.

It’s the start of the pop-up store season when the shopping offer improves no end with short-term retailers opening their doors to showcase their wares.

Form and Fable is a new store and workshop space taking up residence at Mary Lavin Place, Wilton Park, from today until Sunday, December 21st.

It offers shoppers the chance to browse, to touch and try out new skills in the form of classes being held by some of the makers and designers filling the shelves.

The shop is the brainchild of Anike Tyrell and Ava Kelly of Co. Waterford-based hand-crafted contemporary cut crystal company J. Hill’s Standard, an elegant company whose pieces feel precious in the hand and have equally high price tags.

It’s low Row glass, seen here served with fresh oysters, costs around €80.

The events include a block printing on furoshiki squares masterclass with Superfolk, whose giant kelp print is the lead image in this story, on Sunday, November 23rd.

This class costs about €55 and can be booked through Eventbrite.

There is earthenware by Kilenny-based Andrew Ludick. His crow plate costs around €100, while his large tropical bird serving platter version will cost around €300.

Handmade knives by Sam Gleeson of This Is What I Do will delight chefs, while Fermoyle Pottery’s bowls, about  €38 each, desert bowls, €48 each, and a dinner and side plate set, €100, will provide foodies with beautiful serveware and tableware.

Blackrock-based Nordic Elements is supplying some furniture pieces, with a stick chair and a matching table slash stool by Anam.

There’s a slew more makers and brands to explore, including scented candles and home fragrances aplenty. Brookfield Farm’s set of six beeswax candles, which are birthday cake height, about €12, make a gorgeous just-because gift.

The shop opens today, Wednesday, November 12th, and will be open Wednesday through Sundays, from 11 am to 6 pm on Wednesdays to Saturdays, and 11 am to 4 pm on Sundays, until Sunday, December 21st. The store is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
