Embrace the Spring with shades of yellow

Banish the dark days of winter with sunny yellow

After those long months of rain, sunshine, and anything that reminds us of it, is absolutely essential right now.

That's why I've got yellow on my mind today. It's not a colour I reach for in my interiors arsenal, but whenever I go searching for inspiration images that highlight yellow, I wonder why that is.

Buttery, bright yellow is exactly what we need to get us through an Irish winter (or an Irish spring, summer and autumn, depending on what the weather has in store for us in any given year).

It instantly warms up your home, even when it's been dark and dreary for months.

Choose a more golden tone for a luxe look, especially if you're aiming to drench the walls in the shade.

Farrow & Ball has a lock on this warm yellow, with colours like Dayroom Yellow or Babouche that would be the perfect buttercup to paint your living room or bedroom walls.

Furniture is another option to bring in a spike of sunny yellow.

A statement, for sure, but one that will bring you a little artificial sunshine whenever the real thing isn't so forthcoming.

Accessories are the obvious option to stock up on in a sunshine-deprived state to break out when you really need a boost.

Throw blankets, cushions, bedding, or even a lamp can all bring a few rays on the darkest days.
