Revitalise your home with fresh interior ideas that will overhaul the mood, starting from €29.99.

We’re in the weeks where many of us are still in denial about the Christmas festivities.

The Halloween decorations have come down, and the house feels bare, in a liminal state.

Here are some distracting ways to switch up your home and get it ready for the holiday season.

Say goodbye to bland

This striking sideboard will make a statement in an entrance hall, dining room, or as a room divider in a kitchen or living room.

Only 45 cm deep, it is 150 cm long and 78cm high.

Designed by Adam Daghorn, a name that Soho House, Conran, Anthropologie, Arhaus, Marks & Spencer, and John Lewis have all commissioned to create ranges for, this oak Tidal sideboard features laser-cut ash and smoked oak, with inlays of walnut, which evokes a bold sense of movement.

Stocked at UK-based Heal’s, it can be delivered to Northern Ireland, and from there, you will need to get a forwarder such as Lombard Shipping to deliver it to the Republic.

Including delivery charges, expect to pay about €3,300.

Sleep softly in a fabric bed.

A bed that feels tactile to the touch will help lull you to sleep. This Oxford design by Nap has a practical solution to any spillages or staining that might occur. Its cover is Velcro-fastened and replaceable.

While pictured in on-trend umber, it is available to order in Alaska white or charcoal grey options from Dublin-based Woo Design.

Featuring a French seam trim, the king size costs €2,269, ex delivery.

Order both colourways and you can create two very different bedroom moods, one of summer, the other for winter. Delivery is 10 weeks.

On a wall in the hall

Bring in light to even the darkest spaces with a judiciously positioned mirror.

This Bobbin frame in green, 50 cm by 70cm, will work well in bathrooms, bedrooms, and in a small hall where you can double-check how you look before leaving the house. It costs €250, from Oriana B.

A bench to help preserve order

Turn up the heat in your seating area with this slatted teak bench. It's a practical for an entrance hall or utility, or boot room, wherever you put on your outdoor shoes.

Its bubble-gum pink color perfectly brings in a decorative element. You could also use it as a surface for plants, books, or flowers. Extending to 160 cm, it is 27 cm wide and stands 35 cm off the floor.

It costs €495 from S. Alternative Furniture on Dublin’s Long Mile Road.

A soft reading chair

Upholstered in chenille, the Melvia armchair is the perfect accent piece but has enough structure to become a really good reading chair.

With a back that rises to 78 cm, a seat that measures 56 cm, and a leg width of 111 cm, it is a solid piece that will let you curl up and get lost in the story.

By Morten Georgsen, it costs €719 from Kave Home.

Flowers that will last and bloom forever

Not everybody loves fresh flowers. For those who don’t, give the gift of make and do, and a bloom that will never need to be watered.

Lego’s zero-maintenance plum blossom flower is small enough to fit in a bathroom or mantle and has an elegant enough form to spark interest from guests.

Standing 34 cm high, it’s easy to wrap and will make an ideal hostess gift, especially for the non-drinker. It costs €29.99 from Smyths Toys.

A stool that doubles as a side table

Hand-crafted from wood veneer by artisans in Portugal, Marcello is Mattina Moderna's very first piece of furniture.

Versatile, it can be used as a stool or as a side table. Its sturdiness, craftsmanship, and minimalist design make it a timeless and enduring addition to a room.

Designed by Clémentine Poncin, it comes in three finishes: the two-toned wooden pattern, in mahogany veneer and tola wood leaf, pictured, a lacquer, or an expanded black cork option.

It measures 43.2 cm by 37.8 cm and costs €2.410,95, ex delivery, from Maison Flaneur
