Goodbye grey garden furniture: say hello to furnishing it with colour

Kiss Covid-era grey garden furniture goodbye and embrace saturated colour instead.

If your outdoors is looking a little drab and weatherworn, do not despair.

Take some cues from the ideas below so you can throw open the doors and embrace the outdoors, however small yours may be, by giving your outdoor space a colour injection.

Here are 5 ways to bring colour in:

Garden furniture

Scatter colour onto existing pieces

Add colourful cushions to existing furniture to give it a refresh.

Pattani is a large 56 cm square outdoor cushion that is anti-mildew, shower-resistant and anti-microbial.

The blockprint pattern comes in four colours: air force blue, shown, seafoam blue, spruce green or Indian red, and costs about €64.

The swish teak Verdandi three-seat sofa, also shown, costs about €2771, as it's currently reduced by 25 per cent.

Both prices are ex-delivery from UK-based Oka.

Cassia Chair Borgogna Styled Angled

Inject visual heat no matter the weather

Perfectly suited to balconies, terraces, and smaller patios where space is at a premium, the Cassia chair at Pieces.ie has integrated armrests and a carefully considered seat that helps with the transition from lunch to relaxed lounging and a get-together that will last as long as the sun does.

Pictured in Borgogna, the chair costs €95 and comes in five other colourways.

The 120 cm by 70 cm Piave dining table, also seen in Tortora, costs €599.

The Garden Room Malahide Nardi

Create a rose-tint effect

The Garden House in Malahide stocks Italian brand Nardi‘s Maximo modular sofa, which comes in gorgeous sunbleached colours, including the desert rose shade shown, which is called Terra.

With a regenerated resin frame and plush, removable cushions in a Sunbrella fabric, this modular system allows you to configure seating as you want it.

It costs €3,500.

Brighten up a balcony

A bench can really brighten up a smaller space like a balcony, patio or postage-stamp-sized garden.

In a rich marigold yellow, the makers call Senaphe and featuring uniformly coloured fibreglass polypropylene resins with UV additives, the Net Garden will bring the sun out all by itself.

Extending to 116 cm long and 70 deep, it is on sale at Casey’s, down from €299 to €219, ex delivery.

Hay portable lights10051604

Add flattering lighting in flattering shades

HAY’s LED rechargeable table lamp, the portable Host, seen in olive green, but also available in black, red or beige colour options, stands 30 cm tall and downlights the table rather than up at the face, creating an ambient and flattering mood.

It costs €205.69 from Lights.ie.

It is seen here with the brand’s classic Palissade, a collection of outdoor furniture by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

Belfast-based Maven is currently running a promotion on the range.
