A lived-in bed can be hard to style, irrespective of how many times you fluff the pillows. Actor and jazz head Jeff Goldblum plumps for a bolster as a support act.
Jeff Goldblum doesn’t feel the need to fuss over the finer details to create a more collected look.
The Jurassic Park star and jazz musician, who is currently touring Europe; he played Dublin in May, with The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra on his World Blooms tour, has discovered the secret to minimal-effort bed-making.

He has proudly displayed his effortless approach in his 70s-style Hollywood Hills home, in a space he calls his nap room.
Architectural Digest points out that Goldblum's long bolster pillow ties his room together.
It is cushioned between his orange velvet headboard and floral print quilt.

The outlet reports the cylindrical pillow, famed in the 19th century, is making a comeback.
Jeff paired his with a turquoise-and-tangerine colour-block throw.
The bolster was initially sold as a "hugging pillow" originating in Southeast Asia, before the French positioned it as a decoration rather than for practical use.

Instagrammer Loui Burke, who has garnered a large following for his bed-making tips, told the outlet: "The most polished beds aren’t usually the ones with the most pillows."
"They’re the ones with the right proportions.
"On a wider bed, smaller square cushions can feel awkward, whereas a long bolster or lumbar continues the shape of the bed and gives it a cleaner, more tailored look."

In Ireland, you can buy several different styles of this slender pillow.
Belledorm’s piped bolster cushion comes in an olive velvet case and has a microfibre filling.
It costs €40 from Arnotts while the Lyndon Company supplies a 300-thread count, 100 per cent cotton jacquard-covered bolster in crisp white with a polyester filling that is reduced in the Arnotts summer sale from €80 to €32.
The 95 cm long bolster is ideal for side sleepers.

Mi Bed sells a plain style that comes in four sizes, from single to king-size, and is beloved by pregnant mothers. Prices range from €14 to €25.
For a more feminine approach. Foxford’s 180-thread-count Tess bolster is more of a cushion size and costs €26 from Brown Thomas.

Anna + Nina at Smallable stocks a Breton-inspired striped version in 100 per cent organic cotton chambray that has frilled edges and, at 75 cm long, will work on seating and sofas as well as helping to dress a bed.
However, at Chez Goldblum, it might compete for attention with his very natty sense of style.
Take it from Jeff Goldblum, let the pillows do the work!
