Arket’s first Irish store delivers Scandi chic to Dublin

Arket is located at 60 Dawson Street, Dublin 02 K330

After a long wait, Arket, the Swedish clothing and homeware store that is part of the H&M group, finally opened on the corner of Dublin’s Nassau and Dawson Streets.

After eight years in business, the brand now has more than 40 stores across Europe and Asia.

Set over two floors and extending to 810 square metres of retail space, the Dawson Street store stocks womenswear on the ground floor, along with its vegetarian café and coffee shop.

Its menswear and homeware departments are both on the basement level, down a warm grey marble staircase.

The homeware includes stylish stoneware drinking vessels, from handless cups, €25 for a set of two, to larger coffee cups with handles, €17 each, and teacups, €19 each, the latter in an indigo blue splatter pattern.

The pieces are aimed mainly at the giftware market.

Metal and ceramic plant pots that look like they could have been formed on a potter’s wheel range in height from 11cm to 35cm.

The metal option is small, just 11 cm high and costs €39, while a larger bog brown terracotta option, just 12 cm tall, pictured in white below, costs €39.

Arket describes this colour as dark pink.

For the plant lover, there’s also a more traditional-shaped stoneware pot and base, 18cm high, in a verdant green glaze for €35.

Fashion fans will love the animal magnetism of its tiger print pouffe, €149, and matching 50 cm square cushion covers, €39, both come in a cotton/wool mix, and either a black and white or red and white colourway.

The selection includes international brands such as Portugal’s Bordallo Pinheiro, Italy’s Bialetti and France’s Chevalier and Sabre Paris; the latter's designs include a talking point rice spoon, €32, and a butter spreader, €11.
