Hot home buys; your friends may be tempted to steal after supper

With the rhythm of the season underway, invitations to mid-week suppers and long weekend brunches are on the rise. So too is theft amongst friends who will go green with envy when you show off these lovely small things. Invite them at your own peril.

It’s been a long hot summer, and as social calendars fill up again, you can steal a march on the invites by having the rest of your circles to yours first.

But if you’re going to show off some of these tempting new season buys, you can expect some of them to get pinched.

Marks etoile

Perfectly pilferable

These everyday wine glasses are a cut above the ordinary. At just 8.5 cm high, they mean you can enjoy a tiny mid-week tipple without feeling too guilty.

With a ridged top and a short stem with textured detailing, they’re also probably temptingly covetable, €19.50 for a set of two at Marks & Spencer.

Halloween and Christmas decorations are already in the shops.

Even those without kids in the household will love these LED-lit ghosts that can be used to add ambient pools of light throughout the house.

They cost just €3 each from Dunnes Stores. At 11 cm high, one is small enough to fit into most bags.

Peanuts

Tempting merch

With the exhibition Snoopy in Style running until September 26th in New York, merch from the beloved Peanuts comic strip is one of the most covetable ways to update your home.

It includes the theme that friends make everything better, something to consider if you happen to notice that this check-print Linus tea towel, about €17.50, excluding delivery, is missing.

Pinch bowls

These stoneware side dishes, 12 cm wide, come in glossy autumnal colours that add the same kind of polish to the supper table as a manicure does to your hands.
